In order to get another celebration added, it needs to be something appropriately named (husband’s day?) and something that products can be marketed around. A lot of businesses would likely love to have an excuse to be able to advertise products around another holiday so something like husband’s day shouldn’t even struggle to take off. We just need to actually create such a day and name it better. In a culture that wants to promote stable, loving and healthy relationships having a day that celebrates love and romance is a wonderful idea. I’m sad to see that such a beautiful notion has been the target of such pettiness and discontent. If you don’t know what to do about a girl saying yes to your request to be your Valentine, then you shouldn’t be asking her to be your Valentine. Why do you want her to be your Valentine? Then, if both of your expectations match, you can ask her to be your Valentine because you will have figured out what to do about it by then.
